Yesterday I woke up with a 100.2 fever. 100.5 would have sent me to the ER.
So when I had my apointment, and they took my vitals, I didn't have any fever at all. They checked it twice.
If I knew how to do a cartwheel, I would have done one. I checked it again this morning and it's still gone. I am so relieved. I still feel kind of gross, but my doctor thinks that I'm suffering the side effects of the neupogen shots. Today is the last day to take them, then I get a week off, then a week on. This will be like this for a month. Boy, I sure hate the neup, but if the study works, that would be a great thing.
My pharmacist also lowered my steroid dose to 2.5 pills a day. That is so exciting. Mom said the moonface swelling has gone down a bit. I don't know if she was just being nice, but it was good to hear.
Well, I have an early appointment, so I have stuff to do.
I can do this. My fever bit the dust.
Your assignment today is to walk. To attempt to walk at least 30 minutes. If you are doing more than that, I say just go for it (e.g. Moxie Momma does all kinds of serious workouts, and there are quite a few that walk more that every day). 30 minutes is doable. Once you just actually start, it's over before you know it.
You can do it. I have faith in you all. I can't workout today, but I will soon. I can feel it now that this fever is gone.
Even Natalie Dee says to get moving

I love you internets. Especially you. Because I know you workout for me.
WooHoo!! Fever is gone, fever is gone, fever is gone!! YEAH! I will do a cartwheel for you. I may or may not have Phil take a picture of the cartwheel, and send it to you. You have to make one promise- No laughing!! ;-)
I'm going to walk for 30 minutes or more.
I am so glad your fever is gone!
Love,
Dawn
Thank God the fever is gone! WoooHooooo!!!! Take care of you my sweet friend. Love, Traci
Posted by: Traci at May 10, 2006 08:06 AMDeb! I did it!! I walked yesterday! For the first time since the baby was born (2 years ago...) I even made the husband get up early and deal with the boyo while I went out and walked. It was GREAT! I wore my earphones and listened to music that was NOT Baby Beluga and walked and got sweaty and felt great all day long.
Thanks Deb, for kicking my ass. I would never have done it if you hadn't made it your mission.
Bless you - and YAY that the fever is in hasty retreat. I knew you would kick it's ass.
I'm going to walk again tomorrow. And I am really looking forward to it!
Posted by: sally at May 10, 2006 08:07 AMDeb, Look at the motivation you are to so many. You are an inspiration. Dont ever forget that. With all this inspiration goin on, you do this more and more- fever wont get you- now its gone. YEA! You're doing this, you're kicking ass, you're cancer-free, and you getting a whole lotta people up and moving their asses!! (myself included)
Love,
Dawn
WOOT!
woot for ditching that fever!
HI Deb
you kicked the fevers butt, but it knocked you on your butt. those side effects from the neupoger shots STBO but like you said in the long run, if they do what they are suppose to do, its worth doing the study.
congrats on going down to 2 1/2 steroids a day. that swelling is going to go down fast. my feelings on steroids is, its a drug i love but I hate them. they can make you feel terrible while doing a great job tricking your body into thinking nothing is wrong. so they suck but they are wonderful at the same time.
I hope you are able to take it easy and let your body adjust to the new neupogen and your TEAM will do the work outs for you. I will walk an extra 30 for you for as long as you need to rest up.
I hope you have a good appointment today.
peace and prayers
That is the best news.
I've actually enjoyed forcing myself to walk. The best part is afterwards when my cellulite is all tingling.
I think it's working!
Posted by: ieatcrayonz at May 10, 2006 09:17 AMHey Deb,
Great news about the fever, I'm so relieved also to hear that it's gone.
I'm going out walking tonight - I was thinking of fitting in a workout after work and this is the kick in the butt that I need. I live in Vancouver, Canada, and we have this event here every year called "The Weekend to End Breast Cancer" which I am participating in this year. Participants walk 60 km (about 37 miles) in 2 days and must raise at least $2000 to participate. I know you suffer from a different type of cancer, but just wanted to let you know that you are an inspiration to me when fundraising and training.
So, I'll be doing a training walk this evening for an hour, in your honour!
Posted by: Laura at May 10, 2006 09:44 AMYippeeeeeee!!! I knew that stupid fever was no match for our queen!!
I'll run laps with the girls after their softball game tonight. (It's dark afterward so at least I won't injure the eyeballs of any onlookers...heh heh).

I lurk a lot and love that you are doing better. I am on my way to my weight-lifting class and am dedicating all my exercise for this week to you.
I am so glad you are doing better and that these improvements go on and on until you are in good health.
Posted by: Maria at May 10, 2006 10:30 AMI'm a bit of lurk-e-loo too, and was worried - you hadn't posted for a day or so! SOOO glad to hear you kicked that fevers ass.
I am totally doing your assignment today. I've got to look for a new place to live, and pounding the pavement is so much more doable now, especially with such fabulous inspiration from you, and I bet with that inspiration, I am gonna find the sweetest place to live...
YOU walked all over that fever and then that fever WALKED right on OUT of you. It was a scared fever because it knew you would kick its butt!
I have been doing my usual walking today I did my commute walking in the nasty wind and rain. There should be extra points for that. I am going to my yoga class tonight!
Posted by: Michelle at May 10, 2006 02:55 PMHome from the gym (leg day, 2.5 hours of squats and leg presses, etc.) to shower and get ready for work and stopped to check for an update!
So happy I'm crying! Glad the fevers gone and you get a week off from the shots!
Thank you for the update, you made my day!

Posted by: alan at May 10, 2006 03:30 PMYea! Your feeling better ( doing an office chair shimmy in your honour). I must admit I didn't walk for 30 mins today but does running up and down several flights of stairs all day count?
Posted by: lynne at May 10, 2006 04:12 PMOK, I'm going on a ladies only bike ride tonight, and I will toast your fever being gone when we arrive at the winery for dinner. (Don't worry, they drive us back to town in a limo so we aren't riding OR driving after the wine.) Go Deb, GO!
Posted by: eclectic at May 10, 2006 06:06 PMbuh bye suckass feber!!! woooooooooooooot! you go deb. once again, you are *so* doing this!
i do like to work out, but i wouldn't normally be doing such long long walks--it's for the avon walk for breast cancer (which is coming up in just over a week!). you have completely motivated me to walk my ass off for this thing.
meanwhile, i wish i were riding a bike to a winery today like eclectic is!
Posted by: moxiemomma at May 10, 2006 07:54 PMHooray for no fever! :)
My husband had a gastric bypass about three weeks ago, and I committed to start walking with him when he was able, both as part of his recovery, and a much needed change to my sedetary behaviour.
Monday we started. Thirty minutes a week, three times a week (Mon/Wed/Fri) and either Sat or Sun.
We just came back from our 2nd 30 min walk...it feels great :) Just me, him and our youngest in stroller. Beautiful weather, good time to talk, time outside for the tod...and great for our health! :)
Thanks for the encouragement that you give so openly and freely to your 'net peeps! I know its sure inspired me, and looks like quite a few others as well! :)
*squishy hugs*
Posted by: Lucky at May 10, 2006 09:28 PMErm, make that thirty minutes a DAY, three times a week... pshaw...cannot type today :)
Posted by: Lucky at May 10, 2006 09:29 PMI love the title of this post. I'm so glad your fever is gone and the swelling is going down. (I totally believe your mom, because moms don't lie.)
