Yesterday we went to go get Zoe's school uniforms. Polo shirt and shorts Monday through Thursday and a jumper and blouse on Fridays for mass.
She really didn't want to go shopping. Here is the conversation we had:
ME: Zoe get dressed. We have to go buy your uniform.Z: I don't want to go. I don't want to wear a uniform.
ME: Everyone will be wearing a uniform. And I'm not giving you a choice.
I was feeling really lousy yesterday. I can't seem to regulate my body temperature, so I'm always freezing, and still am not really eating much. This is way worse than morning sickness because it lasts all day. Therefore, I was in no mood to go shopping much less a debate with the kiddo.
I reach in my pocket and find a wad of bills. I didn't realize it was there, so I always consider this found money.
ME: Ok, I'll give you five bucks if you go. (I'm not above the bribe)Z: (no hesitation here) Make it ten.
Why does this not surprise me?
Zoe jammin' to Lenny Kravitz

Ouch. I am not sure if I am supposed to say 'Smart girl' or 'When I was younger...'...

So glad you're able to go do mundane things, even if they're protested by the recipient and even if you're not feeling 100%. You'll know you've turned the corner when the mundane things stop being monumental things - - and I have no doubt you'll get there even if it takes a lot of baby steps.
Big hugs to you - you're doing this!
Posted by: Bren / Cody'sMom at August 6, 2006 08:37 PMHA! Nothing like knowing what it takes to make you want to do something. Good for her. Practice for when she has a husband.
Posted by: Dawn at August 6, 2006 10:07 PMSmart child-I hope you gave her $10.00.
I would have wanted 100.00
I'll take $5.00 to go shopping. I'm cheap.
Side note: I got fired as the volunteer editor for a polical blog because I said a particular senator didn't look like a weasel, but a sad hamster. A sad hamster that wasn't going to be president because he hates the jews. It's not true. I really don't know if he hates the jews and I don't know what made me say it. Exhausion maybe, plus a side of delirium or maybe his anti-Israel stance? (Did you notice that I didn't say anything about him not actually looking like a sad hamster. That part is true.)
I miss my blog. I miss writing. And it mightily sucks that I originated and designed the biggest event of their history, it was super big and successful, they plan to copy it in other cities, and they fired me for a stupid comment that was posted for 10 - 15 minutes tops. We barely even had any traffic to our site. 100 - 150 a day tops. And hardly anyone at that time of night. (Albeit, the readership grew after I took over. We, in our family, knows hows to writes.) I got the shaft. I'm so sad.
But... as I have nowhere else to go now. I know Deb wont fire me. You wont will you Deb. Boo hoo hoo hooo.
You know what I think... I think they're ALL a bunch of sad hamsters. Each and every one of them. And they're sad because I not there anymore to clean out their cages and now they have to sit in their own feces!!!!! So there! Poop poop ca ca.
p.s.- I hope your stomach feels better, and thanks for allowing me to rant. Obviously this is not the worse thing in the world, but... boo hoo hoo... sniffle... it sure meant a lot to me.
I love you Deb, your a great listener.
FYI - I checked out the old blog today, (like a ex-boyfriend stalking his old girlfriends house,) and it sucks. Of course. Boo hoo hoo.

Posted by: Ms. Pants at August 7, 2006 08:39 AMHi there
I came by your blog once before from someone else and came back to see how you were doing.
I admire your strength and perseverance as you manage your illness. I'm glad you are back again with your daughter.
I'll try to come by more often and say a prayer for you each time I do.
Best wishes and hugs.

Posted by: Mrs SEB at August 7, 2006 12:17 PMOh my goodness! Smart kid. :) When she's 16 it'll probably be, "Make it $100!"
Posted by: SassyFemme at August 7, 2006 08:20 PMI will pay you 25 cents to change a diaper (even though I am really willing to pay you 50 cents, more if it is a bad one).
Inside joke. We are done with diapers.
Been there, done that. Bribes work, but they soon learn to negotiate, don't they? ;-)
