How to Wake Me. Thoroughly

Sleeping.

Like the dead last night.

I went to this really cool poetry reading, and hung out at a coffee shop with a few of the poets.

I went to bed late, but was snuggly and warm.

So at about 3am I feel this wicked poking sensation. I sleepily swat at my arm and end up flinging some kind of creature, about an inch long, across the room.

I AM NOW WIDE AWAKE.

I turn on the light and don't see anything.

But I'm thinking it was one of these:
fucking creepy.jpg

I watch some tv for a while. Just when I was about to fall asleep, Zoe's alarm goes off. I am now debu_zombie. I take Zoe to school and come back and snooze.

I can do this. I just need Starbucks. Lots and lots of Starbucks.

Your assignment for today is to go to bed early tonight. Matter of fact, try to do that all week. BTW, I haven't gotten a single, solitary boyfriend from not one of you. Do you no longer care? Have I offended? Do I smell?

P.S. My hair looks kinda cute now. Ive got this cowlick Dennis the Menace thing going on. I don't put hair product in my hair, so it just sticks up a tiny bit at the back of my head. I'm just dreading the spiky growth period. I'll look like that chick from Bravo's show Workout.

Ewwwwwww....no wonder you were wide awake!

OMG! Your hair! You totally need some awesome gel that will help it spike up as it grows in. Can you just imagine the conversations?

Zoe would think you totally rock! Of course, you'd have to be careful because you don't want to poke anyone's eye out with one of the spikes.

As far as the boyfriend thing goes? Well, I've had a buttload of applicants but none of them have passed muster yet. I'm working on it!

Even if I knew any boyfriend material worthy of you, I'm like 1500 miles away or something...and I'm not airmailing just any guy to you from that far away...can you imagine the postage!?!!!

Yikes! Well I hope you were able to get a nap this afternoon at least and I hope the little critter found his way to the door!
I bet your hair is looking awesome!

Oh Deb!

Sorry about the unwanted visitor. Yuck.

I wish I could find you a worthy boyfriend. You know what you're worth and somewhere is the man to truly appreciate it. I know you feel like Monkey Boy loved you in a way no one else can and that's a hard act to follow. You should hold those memories in a special place inside your heart. He was very special to you and I can appreciate that. I believe what he never did was love you without the safety net of his marriage to fall back on. So that's what I will pray you find in the next one. Someone to love and appreciate you for the incredible person that you are. Someone to hand over their heart without considering the cost.

I hope you are feeling better today.

You are always in my prayers.

OK, I go to bed on time tonight.

I promise. Cuz I need to.

Tried to kill a roach the other day and it crawled behind the bed. Ew.

Had a centipede crawl on my neck last week. NOT FUN. I couldn't eat breakfast because I was so grossed out.

I will go to bed early tonight. I'm so exhausted.

I can't think of any good prospective boyfriends for you. Sowwy.

My sister once had to have a roach extracted from her ear. Happy childhood memories! (Of course, she was in her twenties then, but whatever.)

Hmmm....... I can lend you George Clooney. I don't need him every night. Or Johnny Depp. You can borrow him whenever. Delusional boyfriends are all I have going for me these days. :)

I would offer you my boy - but know how you feel about that sharing and dating someone that dated a friend - so instead will keep my eyes and ears open.

Maybe you can meet one on the upcoming camping trip?

ELM and I ran into one of those nasty creatures running down the hall just yesterday - suppose the end of the world is near? or it is just to darn hot in Texas?

Miss you!

Crap. It's 113am, and I'm not in bed. DAMNIT.

I don't do roaches. NASTY.

OH NO! That means my fed-ex package didn't get there....I had that boyfriend all wrapped up really nice and cool. Smelling good and everything! I even made sure he shaved when he showered. Okay, okay....I've got to go do some searching and find out what that delivery boy did with him. I'm tellin' you, he was a keeper...full of love, big arms to totally embrace you, willing to bend over backwards if that will keep you happy, only concerned with you and Zoe's well being and promised me that he would never, never intentionally hurt you or do anything that could cause you and Z pain. He didn't have any distractions (other than work, which he said would provide well for the family but could require him to be away from the two of you for extended periods of time each day) but he did want some time to see his buds each month to play tennis or fish or whatever he wanted to do. I didn't think you'd mind since you'll probably be asking for the same. Sounded like a sweet deal. You keep looking for him, okay, cause I promise you I sent him on your way! Oh, and I almost forgot one thing....he likes going to church and thinks its important for the family unit! Yep, he's a keeper!

Love you,
Denise ;)

That illustration of la cockarocha reminded me I need to get waxed. Owwwwwwwwwie!

I have been looking out for a guy to send your way from the islands. Most look newly wed or nearly dead. They must be tourists though cuz I'm looking during regular business hours which is when all the hunks are all probably working. There are quite a few Brah's along the beaches but, they are mostly surfers, most likely not too good at providing anything for anyone other than themselves.

I think your friends back in Tejas will have better like than I at finding you a man.

Aloha,
EV

Did you have too post the picture? I would have
never slept after that bug crawled on me. He or she
wanted to see all of your hair growth. :)

I am sure your boyfriend is on his way. He will show
up when you least expect.
