You Just Have to Start Somewhere

I dragged my sorry butt to the gym today.

I also just put myself (thanks to my dad) in debt to purchase a bunch of training sessions, a nutritionist consult, and a metabolic test to find out how many calories I need.

I did 25 minutes of cardio. And I survived it.

I also am waiting for my dorky Richard Simmons Food Mover

I used one before I had Zoe and it was an easy no brainer way to figure out what to eat. Weight watchers is too complicated - all the counting, spending the money, meetings. Food Mover is a balanced diet based on the number of calories you are allowed to eat. You flip down the things when you eat a portion and when they are all down, you step away from the buffet table. It tracks the water for the day, your vitamins, and it gives you a book to help you know what portion sizes are. It even has a restaurant book to know what the exchanges are.

I'm determined.

I have some tools. It is now officially The Year of The Deb.

I can do this. Because it's that time again.

Your assignment today is to send me some encouraging vibes. Join me this year in empowering yourself to get strong, healthy, vibrant.

Positive vibes coming your way for the weight loss!! I gained over 50 lbs. after my kidney transplant. Had a heck of a time losing it due to the steroids I had to take. And then a friend suggested Weight Watchers. It wasn't easy watching the lbs. drop so slowly, and it took losing about 30 lbs. before anyone noticed. Now I am down 46 lbs.(in less than 9 months) and back into my size 8 jeans. I did this without any exercise program, too! If I can do it, so can you!! I love to eat and it's still hard not to binge, but if I do binge, I know tomorrow is a new day. Also, you must surround yourself with people who support your effort to lose weight, not people who sabotage it!

You'll do it.

Since you are the Queen-I know you can do this.

I make a point of never eating after dinner, and I won't go in the kitchen for any reason. We don't have real junk food in my house.

I drink lots of water, and I walk, run, or swim daily, I do that for ME.

Good-Luck!

We're making some changes around our house this year with the newly adopted mantra - Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.

We're also walking 2 miles on most days. Our favorite circuit takes us from the house to Starbucks or the neighborhood wine bar - break for coffee and or glass of wine - then walk back.

I'm not sure how much good it's doing but it's a nice motivator to get off my fat ass.

You can do it.

Hey Debs--I'll be your weight loss buddy! I need to lose 20 lbs--ugh, ugh, ugh. And of course get my energy back after being whacked by cancer treatment ...

You wrote something a while ago about dating again, and I'd been meaning to e-mail you about that. We can be buddies there too, if you want. I just put up a personal ad on a site for people who have had cancer. Read my post, and let me know if you put up an ad--we can compare notes and keep each other from taking the whole dating thing too seriously.
