Still Here

I can do this. I honestly really don't have an option.

I started taking the vicodin at night so I don't wake up in pain. So that kind of helps.

But today, the blisters are worse. It hurts to swallow. So I had an ICEE. I wish they had lower sugar or calorie Icees. I don't want to know anything about the lack of nutrition whatsoever. All I know is that they make my throat feel better.

Now my lips are peeling and won't heal. I still can't smile. I'm online and am about to search on stuff that will heal my lips. Carmex and the normal stuff just doesn't work at all.

ok. gotta go. Thank you all for the sweet comments. They really remind me of what is important.

I can do this. Busted lip and all.

Deb - you CAN do this and I have no doubt whatsoever that you will. You are the strongest woman I know but if your body wants to rest then let it rest and be easy on yourself. Avon has this great Lip Conditioner - its called "Beyond Color Plumping Lip Conditoner" thats awesome. I slather it on every night and have done so for about 8 years now and have never had even a hint of chapped/sore lips. You might give it a try.
I'm thinking of you girl and praying for healing for you - body and soul.
Big hugs

Deb, I'm so sorry you're suffering with this. I truly hope you can get over it quickly. Will Valtrex help at all? I know it does with fever blisters...I'm just grasping at straws here...but I know you must be desperate by now.

I keep you on top of my prayer list. Keep on keeping on. You CAN and WILL do this. :)

I knew you could do this!!!!!

Hey try using the powder from sugar free jell-o
in your blender with ice :)

Deb, I wonder if the stuff my mom used for radiation burns would help? Of course, I can't for the life of me remember what it was called but we got it from the nurses in the chemo lab. Maybe asking one of them would help? I don't know, just a thought. You are doing a great job honey. I know this must suck hugely. Hug that girlie and save one for yourself.

do you guys have 7-elevens there? They often have crystal light slurpees in some awesome flavors... totally good and no calories!

Hang in there girl! You CAN do this!

Get yourself to Target or WalMart and buy a slushy/icee maker. All you do is put ice in, push the button and you can have that wonderful ice. WM has a ton of the flavors- they are putting them out now for spring- and some of them are sugar-free. I'm sure Target has them too. Then you can have a nice refreshing icee whenever you want.

I hope the blisters go away very soon.

Hang in there gal. I'll see if I can send in the cavalry.

I admire your courage. Your sister loves you very much. I have two sisters I love very much as well. We are both very lucky, are we not?

from SXSW - Deb, my wife had a BMT in 2000 and 8 years later she is doing very good. Still taking some pills, but she made it. You right, you just gotta do this (like skiing down a hill, one you start, you're committed). All I can say is hang in there, stay strong and desire to LIVE. You can absolutely do it.

My husband (who you met at your b-day dinner) just saw your sister at sxsw. I hope you are doing good. You are constantly in my thoughts/prayers.

You can totally do this and everything else you ever want to do. How do I know? Because I've met the spark that is your sister, Michelle (seriously, she stood up in front about a thousand people and asked them to send you some love -- at which point everybody cheered), this weekend and it's plain that you are surrounded by those who love you which can only inspire the same in others. Hang tight, hang on, and good luck getting you smile back :)

if you have a smile in your eyes, that'll work just as well as a smile from lips, cracked or otherwise. i started buying those frozen tropical fruit pieces at the HEB, like mango, strawberries, etc. Run them through a blender with some fresh bananas and some type of juice (or diet red bull). Way better than icee's and satisfies that craving for something yummy and frozen.

Keep up the spirits whenever you can.

Cheers!

Met your sister today in a medical panel at SXSW after her lovely, dramatic (in a good way), announcement. She's a great gal and loves you a lot. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh, your poor mouth! A good blender is a good idea.
For your lips...I was on Accutane (a crazy acne drug) several times in highschool and university, and it dries your skin out HUGE amounts. My lips were cracking and bleeding (it didn't help that I played trumpet). I found the best thing was a combination of blistex (the stuff in the white squeeze tube) and...I think it was called prevex. The blistex is more soothing- I'd use it while I was playing- and the prevex, which is actually a heavy-duty hand moisturizer/protectant, I put on before bed, etc. to prevent the cracking and the bleeding. It doesn't feel very nice on, but it did help.
Hope you find something that helps!!
